Funeral Notice

 

Mrs. Lura Dell Taylor, 82, of Oxnard, CA (formerly of Camp Hill) died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Oxnard, CA.   Funeral services will be held at New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 26403 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Camp Hill on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. Justin Freeman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.  The remains will lie in state at the church from 12:00 p.m. (CST) until the funeral hour. Public viewing will be at Vines Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 7: 00 p.m. (CST).

Mrs. Taylor was born to the late Arthur and Ozella Tinsley on August 3, 1934 in Camp Hill.  Early in her life, she was a member of New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church and later on the First Lady of New Progressive Baptist Church in Oxnard, CA for fifty-four years.  Mrs. Taylor was a dedicated wife, sister, aunt, mentor and friend who was also well known for her powerful yet angelic gospel voice and thirty years of service as an educator.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband of fifty-nine  years, Pastor Jesse J. Taylor; two sisters, Ethel David, Auburn, and Beatrice Adams (James), Oxnard, CA and one brother, Deacon Roy Tinsley (Gloria), Camp Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
