Funeral Notice

 

Ms. Mary Alfrieda (Frieda) Brummitt, 67, of Camp Hill died Sunday, March 12, 2017 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika.  Funeral services will be held at Mt. Lovely Baptist Church, Camp Hill on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. (CST) with Pastor Doris Patterson officiating. Interment will be in the Brummitt cemetery, Camp Hill. The remains will lie in state at the church from 12:00 p.m. (CST) until the funeral hour.  Public viewing will be at Vines Funeral Home, Friday, March 17, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. (CST).

Frieda was born August 20, 1949 to Curtis & Mary Gertha Brummitt in LaFayette.  She was one of many babies chosen to enter a Baby Contest which she won and was called “The $100 Baby”.  She was raised and lived her entire life in Camp Hill.  She was a devoted member of Mt. Lovely Baptist Church.  Frieda graduated from Edward Bell High School in 1967 then went to Opelika Technical College (Southern Union Community College) and earned her Associate Degree.  She was employed by Auburn University as a secretary for several years in the Entomology Department and later as a Cataloger in the Library.  She retired from Auburn University after 40 years of service in March 2015.  Frieda also worked for Gayfers (now Dillard’s) for over 20 years.

Frieda is survived by one sister: Judy Gayle Lane, one brother, Curtis Jerome Brummitt, and one nephew, Christopher Terence Brummitt all of Camp Hill; and a host of other relatives and friends.
