Funeral Notice

 

Mrs. Mae F. Hughes, 89, of Camp Hill died Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab Center, Opelika.   Funeral  services will be held at Murray Chapel AME Zion Church, Camp Hill on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. G. H. Pulliam officiating.  Interment will be in New Harmony Church cemetery, Camp Hill. The remains will lie in state at the church from 11:00 a.m. (CST) until the funeral hour. Public viewing will be at Vines Funeral Home, Monday, November 26, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 6: 00 p.m.(CST).

Mrs. Hughes was born July 28, 1929 to the late Enoch and Ina (Heard) Foreman in Tallapoosa County.  After confessing Christ at an early age, she united with Murray Chapel AME Zion Church, Camp Hill where she remained a faithful member until her death.  As a child, she attended Tallapoosa County Training School, Camp Hill.  Following her graduation, She attended and graduated from Alabama State College, Montgomery with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  Soon after graduation, her teaching career started in Alexander City at Dairy Ann School.  She then taught for several years at Edward Bell School,  Camp Hill.  After moving away from Camp Hill, she obtained her Master’s Degree and continued her career in the Warner Robbins school system, Warner Robbins, GA where she remained until her retirement.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hughes.

Mrs. Hughes  is survived by two sisters: Nora Milner, Camp Hill and Sadie Harper, Albany , NY; two nephews: James “Buster” (Eunice) Cox of Athens, AL and Gary Foreman; four nieces: Joyce Burrell, Hyattsville, MD, Freda (Taft)  Ware, Fairburn, GA, Betty Harper and Bridgette (Dennis) Miller both of Schenectady, NY; a dear & devoted brother-in-law, James F. Hughes, Camp Hill; a brother-in-law, Toney (Mildretta) Hughes, Bloomfield Hills, MI; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Larry) Prince, Leesburg, FL and Ruthie (Jonathan) Clark, Northfield, MI and a host of other relatives and friends.

We are sorry for your loss. May you have many shared precious memories of your dear one. The Bible gives us a wonderful hope of seeing our loved ones again in a paradise earth where there is peace, no Pain, no suffering.(Revelation 21:3&4) The Bible also tell us at Acts 24: 15 I have hope toward God that there is going to be a resurrection.
